Medical Hair Loss Treatment for Men and Women

Are there are medical treatments which can stop hair loss progression?

YES: There are certain medical hair loss treatment in the form of drugs that have received the marketing authorization of FDA . There are actually two effective drugs to stop hair loss and to help the healthy regrowth of hair. The principal goal of a treatment is to stop the hair loss progression . An early therapy is recommended in order to obtain the best results.
Because of the duration of a normal pilar cycle, a treatment from at least 3 to 6 months is necessary before the hair loss problem is stopped and that an improvement in  hair growth is visible.

At the end of 12 to 24 months of treatment, the aspect of hair can improve. Even if there is no final medical treatment of the androgenic alopecia, there are still some therapeutic solutions which showed their effectiveness following serious scientific studies. The medical treatment will be effective only in the case of temporary hairloss. The suppression of the cause generally makes it possible to find its hair in a few weeks.

Sometimes it will be necessary to have recourse to the right drugs (that the attending practitioner, even the dermatologist or the gynaecologist will be able to prescribe) depending on the cause of the alopecia condition: - This may range from a deficiency in amino acids, proteins or trace elements (Zinc, Copper...) - hormonal treatment, change of pill... The mesotherapy  is useful in certain cases.

Warning: Certain drugs (Finasteride) is recommended for man and not women. The minoxidil (2 or 5%) alone can be prescribed as a  stand-alone local treatment  . The minoxidil with 5% (Alostil 5%) request a regular medical follow-up. It is only in the event of failure of the medical treatment that one will be able to consider hair transplant surgery or when the alopecia is final with important psychological repercussions.

Medical Hair Loss Treament For Men

Currently there is no sure constant result for male baldness. The medical treatments function is to  delay or prevent the future loss of hair. There is no known drug which can significantly promote healthy hair regrowth.
Although their mechanisms of action are different and although Finasteride is much more effective than Minoxidil, they function both on similar "targets". The two drugs function only on small portion of hair loss so as to increase their diameter. Neither one nor the other of these drugs will work in areas which are completely deprived of hair (baldness). Both function in all sectors on the scalps which are prone to androgenetic changes C for instance, the front one, the top and the crown.

The drugs are effective on the level of the crown where the period of hair loss is prolonged. However, if you experience receding hair on your forehead, the drugs can make your hair grow in this part of the scalp. The two drugs are more effective to prevent the future loss of hair rather than to make them grow back well. It should be remembered that Finasteride is more effective than Minoxidil for healthy hair regrowth and prevention of the loss of hair. Their actions seem to be synergistic and their use together can be advantageous, in particular for the young people.
